Σχόλιo : I stayed with my parents at the Porto Lesvos hotel for one night in the mid of June 2008. We were totally disappointed as we were expecting a four-star hotel and what we encountered would be classified as a B-class hotel. However, as we would stay only for one night and the rooms seemed ok regarding cleanliness, we did not complain. I totally agree with other comments referring to the room facilities, the loud noises that won’t let you sleep at night, but what I would like to point out is the staff behaviour.
The next morning we were supposed to leave rooms at 12:00 at noon. At 09:00 after breakfast (which was ok but can’t be classified as a four-star hotel breakfast) we went up to our rooms and found the cleaning lady already in one of the rooms cleaning for the next customers. Of course, we asked her to come by at 12:00 as by that time it was certain that we would use the room facilities (e.g. bathroom) and therefore she would have to clean again. At 11.15 we were out and since we were far from the hotel (at a distance of 40km) I called the hotel to let them know that we would be ten minutes late. Since I knew they wanted to clean I had already packed my suitcase and asked them to move it to my parents’ room and clean the room if they needed to. At 12.15 we arrived at the hotel and we were astonished to find all our staff down at the reception area: our shoes lying on the floor, our clothes in public display. Of course the next customers had not arrived yet and it was obvious that they had thrown our staff out of the rooms earlier than 12:00 since at 12:15 both rooms were cleaned and the cleaning lady was downstairs washing a car outside the hotel. I travel a lot and I have never seen such behaviour – they could charge us for being late, but they had no right to throw our staff out of the room. Finally, after hearing their ridiculous excuses, we went to check the rooms for anything that might have been forgotten. My father went to pay and although I had given a deposit of 50 Euros to book the room they charged him the full amount. Luckily, I had brought along the bank voucher. I showed it to the clerk who just gave a look and accepted his mistake. If he did not know about the deposit, wouldn’t he at least read more thoroughly the bank document to verify that I was not lying? I can’t definitely claim that holding our 50Euros was on purpose, but how possible is it for a small hotel of approximately 10 rooms to be unaware of the due amount of each customer?
As a conclusion, the hotel facilities and services are much lower than they claim to be. The worst is that the hotel staff has awful behaviour and they embarrass the Greek hospitality.
